Massage Therapy and Continuing Education

Fijian Barefoot Massage

Fijian Massage is a deep tissue massage technique that has been evolving for generations on the Islands of Fiji. Lolita Knight learned this barefoot technique while living in the remote villages of Kadavu and in 1997 she further developed and began teaching it in the United States. Instructor Andi Johnson received her Fijian Massage training and is continuing these teachings as Lolita enjoys retirement.

Fijian To Go is a mobile adaptation of Fijian Massage requiring minimal equipment and supplies. It focuses on the back, shoulders, and gluteal's and is great for sporting events, family settings, as well as your massage office. Therapists use different parts of their feet to effectively massage clients who are lying on the floor. It does not include walking on the client’s back.

All strokes can be performed while standing, sitting on a chair or sofa, or reclining on the floor. The weight of your leg gauges the pressure. No hands, arms or shoulders are ever used, making it truly a hands-saving technique that can add to your career longevity. In addition, most clients prefer the heel of the foot pressure over that of the elbow. This is a “feets-on” workshop with demonstration and practice.

This course includes:

The history of Fijian Massage. Barefoot massage techniques performed while sitting in a chair, standing or reclining on the floor. Practicing balance techniques for Fijian Massage performed while standing. Developing hand-saving skills for deep therapeutic strokes. Marketing strategies for introducing Fijian Massage to clients
